Are you a leader or a follower?
“Better to be a sheepdog than a sheep” – Gabrielle Renee
There are times when you must lead: guiding your loved ones, helping strangers, setting an example to those around us…(even the adults that badly need it), teaching children and keeping yourself in the right lane in life..
And, it is as important to be a follower. Learn from the examples of others… how to be and how not to be. Follow examples shown to us by those more patient, with different perspectives, different experience and knowledge. Following the examples of Jesus, the Dalai Lama, Martin Luther King Jr..
I learned once, from a book by the late Buddhist teacher, Beloved Thich Nhat Hahn, that we can look at and honor everyone around us as a teacher, even though who have hurt us. They have shown us how not to be. In that way, we can Lighten our hearts of the burden carried by the harmful actions done to us. Our strife Becomes our strength and new growth.
